Description

by D. Mark Agostinelli?

D. Mark Agostinelli is the man who defined the art of the modern rudiment. Writing the ?Drum Rudiment Bible? he was able to create the first book that incorporated all known hybrid rudiments in existence; which took him 7 years to write, mainly because there were no sources to pull the information from.? It involved serious research which became his evening hobby every night for 7 years.? Involving him to take multiple trips to Europe and around the United States to visit drum-lines, bugle corp, and marching bands to pick the members and educators brains on the subject.? (slowly compiling the list)? Later, he went on to developing a series of books to help students with rudiments, by dedicating one book at a time to a specific rudiment.

Mark himself. learned incredible technique on the drums for both hands by utilizing the techniques inside of these books.? When Mark was learning, at the time; these books did not exist yet.? There were only a couple of books written at the time that exercised a student on the rudiments and they were mainly for the Single Paradiddle, and not for the other rudiments.

He was forced to draw out (engrave) his own pieces by hand.? They were very long, and contained many pages that threw the rudiment out at him in multiple ways.? He then practiced these long chains over and over.? Now, These are those books that he wrote back then!? So when you get the book; read it once, then play it over and over.? “Each time playing it faster and faster” (his quote).? Then soon you will be a beast.? D. Mark Agostinelli is known as being one of the most influential music educators of his time through his devotional dedication to the art rudimental drumming.

Note from the Author

“These books are no Joke! At first, they look easy and silly.? That’s fine!? Just, stop talking and play the book cover to cover, then…? start from the beginning, and play it again, and play it faster! then again faster, again faster, again faster.? Each time, playing it faster and faster.? Then soon you will be a beast”? The question is not “if” you can read it; it’s how “fast” can you read it?” – D. Mark Agostinelli

As D. Mark Agostinelli explains above; these books are never completed! The sky is the limit to how fast a drummer can play these books.? If you are already fast, then just get yourself a copy of the book and then just play it faster!? Use these books as a tool to develop coordination, speed, techniques, fill in examples, and reading skills.
